Realistic and Idealistic
Dr. Manilal told Sri Aurobindo: “Only today I learnt that Mridu's full name is Mridubhashini.”
Sri Aurobindo: “Oh!”
M: “And another is her pet name Khendurani.”
Sri Aurobindo: “One realistic, the other idealistic!”1
Khendu in Bengali means broken or flat nosed. Mridu's voice carried a nasal tone, as if she were speaking through the nose. Mridubhashini means one with gentle speech.
